  • MaxBill’s New UMTS Module Delivers Advanced Rating for Next-Generation Communication Services

MaxBill Unveils Sophisticated Rating Solutions for the Evolving Wireless Content and Commerce Market

  • Israel – April 2, 2001 – MaxBill Ltd. announced today the release of MaxRate version 3.3, MaxBill’s powerful stand-alone rating engine. MaxRate version 3.3 has been benchmarked at high performance levels and includes an advanced module designed to rate for UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System). MaxBill now offers a complete end-to-end customer care and billing solution for the advanced needs of the next generation of wireless communication.

  • “We have identified that beyond high performance requirements, one of the leading challenges in rating for UMTS events and usage records is the difficulty in managing the complex business relationships between service providers and their partners, including content providers, advertisers and network operators,” said Michah Himmelman, President of MaxBill Ltd. “Our new module includes a user interface and administration utility through which the provider can manage the business relationships and scenarios created by the UMTS environment.”

  • The flexible management application featured in MaxRate can process events for parallel charges and can handle multilayered, hierarchical, content and usage applications. MaxRate version 3.3 can run in real time and has prepaid and post-paid capabilities. The UMTS module eases interoperability between the MaxRate rating engine and mediation platforms, where most next-generation usage definitions are compiled.

  • MaxBill’s MaxRate has been benchmarked to process CDRs at a speed of over 30 million in 70 minutes using a 4 CPU processor server with 2 GB of memory. “The dynamic nature of the information and services available through mobile commerce and content dramatically increases the volume of billable records that need processing,” said Kirill Rechter, MaxBill’s Director of R&D. “MaxRate’s robust performance capabilities along with the new UMTS module make it the most effective 3G billing platform available.” MaxRate’s stand-alone design can operate independently or as an add-on to legacy systems to support carrier-grade requirements.

  • MaxBill will be presenting its new UMTS module at IIR’s Billing Systems 2001 exhibition held April 23 – 26 in London. MaxBill will be located at booth 95.
